The Salt March in India
Mahatma Gandhi started a 300 kilometer walking tour. It was March 12, 1930 and his walk was a protest against the British Empire.
His final destination was the coast of the Indian Ocean, which he arrived on April 6 of the same year. Gandhi advanced into the water and collected some salt in his hands, a symbolic gesture with which he invited the people of India to ignore the tax on the production and sale of salt in the country that had established the British Empire.

Process of deindividualization

This law prohibited collecting salt from the inhabitants of India, but the action of Gandhi - who for 23 days was giving speeches to the crowds that followed him - was replicated throughout the country. The inhabitants collected the salt in broad daylight, defying the British, and the British filled their prisons with salt thieves.
Process of de deinvidualization
This peaceful act triggered the first massive act of civil disobedience, the start of 17 years of the fight for India's independence.
